Burglaries in the Area!

Dear Resident(s),

We are contacting you to inform you of a recent spate of burglaries in the Carpenterstown/Riverwood & Luttrelstown areas in the past weeks/month.

At the beginning of March, the Riverwood resident's  association forwarded on an email in which they indicated they had four burglaries in the one night.

Then on the night of 16th/17th March, two houses were broken into in Sycamore & Maple.    And again on the 23rd, two more houses were burgled.

The Gardaí are aware of all the incidents and are actively investigating these crimes, with some definite leads into a number of groups.

Parking Issue

Residents are asked NOT to Park on or NEXT TO Cherry Green or Sycamore Green. With cars parked on both sides of the road - this is causing a narrowing of both lanes and could prevent
Fire Brigade/Ambulance access to Sycamore/Cherry estates due to the width of these vehicles. We've received several notifications from Residents and ask all Residents to be co-operative -
park next to the Footpath side of the road in future.

You do not have to attend each meeting or participate in each activity, you do have to care for your community and have an open mind to other residents opinions. Come along to our next meeting and find out about CPRA!

To Residents, Sycamore Avenue (homes facing onto Cherry Green).

"To Residents, Sycamore Avenue (homes facing onto Cherry Green).
Please - do not park on Cherry Green. Permanent Wheel ruts are forming in the grass.
The Council owns the Green and prohibits any parking there. Also - if the Van/car parked on or over the Green is parked adjacent to a car that is parked in front of a house - this narrowing of the Avenue access could prevent Emergency Services from moving beyond this location.
There is plenty of parking available on the housing side of the Avenue at this location and we ask that you avail of this in lieu of damaging the Green.
Your co-operation is appreciated."

Carpenterstown Park Residents Association Meeting

1. Next Meeting is Monday February 4th 2013 at 8.15pm (NEW TIME) in Castleknock Community Centre, Laurel Lodge. All residents welcome - any queries or suggestions, please email to carpenterstownparkresidents@gmail.com before 5pm Sunday 3rd February.

2.
Items of note:-

a) Pot Holes on Sycamore Avenue. These have been added to the Winter Works programme by Fingal County Council since November last and we hope they will take these in hand very shortly. We note these have widened significantly since the original request was submitted in writing last autumn.

b) Also the tree at Maple Drive/Maple Roundabout (corner above Carpenterstown Park granite sign) is on the winter works programme for removal - cut back.

c) A request to Fingal County Council's Operations department in Coolmine to cut back the tree blocking Street Light No 4 (Sycamore Avenue adjacent to Sycamore Lawn) is listed for pruning during the Council's current pruning season.

CARPENTERSTOWN PARK CLEAN UP DAY BIG SUCCESS

Cherry, Maple and Sycamore held a Clean Up Day on Saturday 17th November. With the support and great help of Jim and Freddie from Fingal County Council's Environmental Department, leaves and rubbish were collected from most roads in the estate. Unsung heroes of the day go to the Residents of Sycamore Avenue, Sycamore Park, Maple Avenue and Maple Drive who were out first thing sweeping footpaths and gathering up bags of leaves before our 10am start.

NEWS:
1. WATER DISRUPTION – from 7pm Tues 13/11 to 7am Weds 14/11.
Due to installation of a pressure release valve on the ‘trunk’ water line serving Blanchardstown/Castleknock – water may not be available in our area during the above TWELVE hours. Detailed list of sites available on Council’s website on Monday 12th November. Visit www.fingalcoco.ie -click on WATER link.
2. Tennis Courts. New nets have been installed by the Council. Open to All Residents. Carpenterstown Tennis Club restarts lessons FOR ADULTS only in February 2013. To register for lessons, get more information, email carpenterstowntc@gmail.com.
3. BURGLARIES –These are on the increase in the 3 estates. Put bikes in shed or house at night/when you are away. Lock cars/do not leave personal items in cars. Do not leave purses/keys within site of windows. Blanchardstown Gardai encourage everyone to use their house alarms if they have one. QUERY FOR LOCAL GARDAI?!
Blanchardstown Community Gards hold a Clinic weekly at Castleknock Community Centre, Wednesdays from 7pm to 8pm. Their direct phone is 01-666-7020.
4. Quality Bus Corridor. The Residents Association is pursuing Fingal County Council regarding ‘ghost lines’ which were to be installed Maple Roundabout (similar to those supplied at Carpenter roundabout at Castleknock Community College/Carpenterstown Pub). This is to control traffic speed at this location. We will keep you updated on this.
5. Tree Obstructing Traffic at Maple Drive. We are in communication with the Council to cut back the tree located directly at the back of the granite estate sign at Maple Drive. This is obstructing the view of drivers leaving Maple Drive looking up Carpenterstown Avenue to their RIGHT. It is also preventing motorists coming to Maple roundabout from seeing motorists on Maple Drive to their LEFT. We hope to have this resolved shortly.
SUGGESTED -SPEED BUMPS ON CARPENTERSTOWN AVENUE -
Between LAVERNA ROUNDABOUT and MAPLE ROUNDABOUT?
Query?
Do you have a view on the above? Recently, a car drove OVER Maple roundabout and crashed just before 10am Sunday Services ended at St. Thomais the Apostle Church. Motorists not familiar with this area have told residents that they do not see Maple roundabout ahead until they are almost on it. A number of residents have complained that traffic speeds too fast from Laverna to Maple. The Council has advised there is not a problem at this section. We want to hear from YOU-
What is your opinion? Please email us at:-

Avoid potential vandalism and littering

"A resident on Sycamore Avenue has contacted us with concern regarding bins, particularly green bins being left out the night before collection. Several bins from Sycamore View and the Avenue have been recently removed, with rubbish inside being burned and the bins themselves, on occasion, being thrown into a fire and melting down. If residents can avoid leaving their bins out, they may avoid the potential cost of a new bin and polluting the environment." Read More...

Carpenterstown Park Residents Association's AGM

On Wednesday 9th November at 8pm Castleknock Community Centre, Laurel lodge.

It is important that all residents take an interest in their community, from both an appreciation of where they live and also to support its maintenance, especially with local Council services being cut back.  Your Residents Association would like more neighbours to take an interest in keeping Cherry, Maple and Sycamore attractive, comfortable places to live.

Grass verges!

"All Carpenterstown Park residents are reminded that if their plants/hedges or tree branches are preventing pedestrian access along public footpaths - they have a responsibility to cut them back. Public footpaths are the property of Fingal County Council and as such are required to be 'kept clear' at all times. Disabled residents rely heavily on our area's footpaths to be clear. Please check your green growth and cut it back if it's growing beyond your property. You'll be giving back to your community!" Read More...

Clean-up Day

The Carpenterstown Park residents started gathering at Tennis court greens at around 10:30am. Resource materials like gloves, bags, litter pickers e.t.c. were provided by the Carpenterstown park Residents association. Within an hours time lot of kids came out along with their parents to help in this cause. It generated quite an excitement among them as everyone was keen to bring in a bigger bag full of litter. Many residents got to know each other through this healthy exercise. Some residents got their shovels out and started uprooting the weeds alongside the Sycamore avenue. Within two hours loads of litter bags filled and piled up under the Carpenterstown park Residents association banner. Later on, in liaison with Fingal County Council, litter bags were collected by their staff. Carpenterstown park Residents association had also some refreshments and goodies for the kids in the shape of chocolates, sweets, chips, juices, fizzy drinks and biscuits.
